Nvidia rebrand again

Nvidia rebrand again

thats right nvidia has release another set of gpu rebrands on there line up..

Disclaimer: I am not the one who wrote this article, i am just posting this from another website/forum. posting news!, i take no responsibility of this article, this topic wasn't intended to make anyone angry, upset, dissapointed, etc.

Finally, after months of waiting, Nvidia has announced that two of its Fermi chips will be released at the end of March – but, to sate eager customers, the Californian firm has been busy churning out some new parts.

Except that they’re not new in the strictest definition of the word.

Instead, Nvidia has merely rebranded some of its older chips with bigger numbers for the benefit of OEMs – and to the detriment of people who’d naturally think that a GT 340 was more capable than the GT 240 or a GTX 295. Presumably, it’s an attempt to eke as much cash out of these older cores before the much-delayed Fermi arrives.

Take, for instance, the GeForce 310, which is the same part as the GeForce 210 and, consequently, uses the same GT218 core. Nvidia has even used the exact same picture for both of these GPUs on its website.

Nvidia partners order huge quantities of Fermi chips

Nvidia partners order huge quantities of Fermi chips

Partners anticipate high success rate

Nvidia partners have high hopes that the company's GF100 / "GT300" / Fermi chip will end up as the excellent seller many enthusiasts have been hoping for and have already ordered some huge quantities of it.

The reasons behind such risky decisions is quite clear. The GT200 family is not as widely available anymore and it seems probable that someone at Nvidia messed up with 55nm wafer orders. We assume this mainly because Nvidia didn’t expect to have such strong demand in Q3 and Q4 and therefore partners are hoping that Fermi can remedy the situation.

On another note, supply partners have to be the early birds with their orders because once Nvidia shows its Fermi supply to the entire seller market, the waiting line to get chips might already be too long. It is not that Nvidia partners have much of a choice though, as the GT200 series is slowly being discontinued and Fermi is supposed to fill the gap.

Nvidia and its partners believe that Fermi should destroy Radeon HD 5870 and HD 5850 sales, but this is only after it starts shipping. Not to mention, this strongly depends on the supply quantities that Nvidia can deliver. Until then, ATI will be making quite a lot of money on its 58x0 and 57x0 series.

OMG fermi exists

nvida we are waiting for some good bechmark to beat the red team.

Nvidia partners discontinued GTX285 and GTX275 And GTX260

Several
Nvidia partners have confirmed that they had to decide to cancel GTX 285 and GTX 275 based products, as availability was simply disastrous.

We still don’t now if this is Nvidia's strategy to keep the market hungry for Fermi or they simply didn't order enough wafers, but availability of GTX260, GTX275 and GTX285 was so bad that many decided to drop these products and wait for Fermi.

The lucky ones can sell Radeon HD 5870 and 5850, as they are selling good, but the 5870 is mainly on allocation and that doesn’t really help a lot.

The GT200 generation is slowly but surely running towards its retirement and if you want one, simply grab it while you still can, or get RV870 or Fermi when it comes out.
